Private Chefs

Many of our graduates offer a private cooking service for holiday makers.
We advise people to place an advertisement on our Facebook group, Silwood Kitchen School of Cookery, to find a suitable cook.  The more details the client can provide, the better.
General info about Private Chefs:

A private cook is expected to cover the following duties:

  • Menu planning
  • The purchasing of provisions.
  • The preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
  • The complete management of the kitchen including its hygiene and cleaning.
  • To provide own transport for shopping
  • To be of a friendly and accommodating disposition.
Working Hours:
Working hours can be loosely defined as 12 hours a day, this includes shopping time.

Daily rate FROM R1000-R2500 depending on skill / experience

Costs: Chefs are generally paid on a weekly basis. Cost is determined by the level of competency required.
The daily rate set excludes the cook’s petrol costs for shopping.
The cook should be provided with cash to purchase ingredients and should submit regular, professional breakdowns, with slips, for all monies spent.
