Silwood was started in 1964 and has remained a small family-run business, boasting student achievements unmatched by any other school in the country. Our graduates are sort-after worldwide.
The Silwood qualification is made up of 3 training years, with an option to complete one, two or all three years.
1st Year - Certificate Course
2nd Year - Diploma Course
3rd Year - Grande Diplome
1 year part-time patisserie diploma starting in 2011
Silwood has won all the Sunday Times Inter-Cookery School Competitions to date, The Cape Gourmet Festival student competitions and the 1997 and 1998 SA Chefs Inter-Cookery Schools Knife Skill Competitions. A Silwood student even won the junior place on the Olympic team whilst in her 3rd year.
